(Outfit info below)
It’s so great to see you! For today’s post, I really longed to emphasize the importance of doing what feels most right to you, even if that means breaking with conventions or editing (most likely arbitrary) rules.
I feel like modern women have been handed so many imaginary—often contradictory—“rules”. Consequently, simple tasks like nourishing our bodies, dressing to feel amazing and speaking with confidence are challenges that seem to require the many guides that fill up bookstores and web browsers. They clutter our minds and complicate the desires in our hearts. You and I both know that all we really need is intuition and love (for each other and ourselves). I love to read and learn (any fellow English majors/bookworms?), but quite honestly, I’d rather read up on what thrills me, inspires me, moves me at any given moment (be it art, fashion, film, business, biographies or current events). It’s so much more sexy and fun to view reading up on something as a luxury—something to do because you can—not because you “should”.
I’m here as your local fashion blogger, but also your CHIC friend. Being “CHIC” isn’t about following or breaking rules; it’s about living with passion, with inspiration, with spirit. Remember, here, I invite you to Be Confident, Happy, Inspired and Connected. It’s truly very CHIC. When in doubt, scroll up and check the tag line. I believe every word.
Today, I wore this structured “summer white” (in other words, bright white, not “off white”) skirt, with a fitted white t-shirt, a cropped perfecto, and my beloved navy sparkling Keds. Yes, it is indeed October 12th (Columbus Day). But the temperature touched 71 degrees here in New York. I reached for these pieces with a sense of gratitude, keenly aware of how special it was to be able to reincorporate this bright white summer staple in the middle of autumn. I felt fabulous. Can you tell? 😉
