As I’m packing up my clothes for the fall, I couldn’t resist spotlighting my favorite white skirt of summer, purchased for $30 on sale at H&M in Boston. (Seriously, how did this beauty make it to the sale rack? ). I’ll be storing it hanging and zipped into a garment bag, rather than folded, to avoid creases in the structured fabric. (I’ve made that mistake before, but I’m learning). Just because I didn’t pay much for a piece doesn’t mean I love and honor it any less than the pricier items I wear, store and adore. I value and cherish what makes me feel CHIC (Confident, Happy, Inspired and Connected) regardless of price tag. Don’t you agree?
This summer I was particularly inspired by 1950’s-early 1960’s style. My favorite piece of the season is usually tough to pinpoint, but this year, I have to admit I was particularly enamored with full, fabulous white skirts. (Sue me: I now have three. But each one is unique!) I liked to pair my various 50’s skirts with very thin cashmere sweaters, especially in pastel colors. I had a lot of fun buying into the sweetness of the look, without ever feeling “costume-y”, because the silhouette fit naturally with my body type and mood. Embraced with a certain subtleness and a spirit of personal authenticity, decade-inspired dressing isn’t a bad thing. Always, the CHIC just take what serves us best, and leave the rest.
I threw in a few more photos of my summer 2015 style, just for fun. Although I doubt summer dressing now will be much inspiration for Fall/Winter 2015, fashion is a way to celebrate the present moment, and celebrate life. All good stuff. I’d love to see one last look at the summer styles you’re now bidding farewell to, so leave me a link to your blog/social profile below! Although I adore summer, I’m so excited to embrace this fall here with you. Let’s seize the beauty of the coming seasons together.
